How to Play
To play Othello, you and your opponent take turns placing discs of your assigned color on the board. A move is legal only if it 'outflanks' one or more of the opponent's discs. This means you must place your disc so that there is at least one straight line (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) of the opponent's discs between your new piece and another piece of your color already on the board.
When you make a legal move, all of the opponent's discs that were outflanked are flipped over to become your color. This can often trigger a chain reaction across multiple lines if your placement outflanks discs in several directions at once. If a player cannot make a legal move, they must pass their turn back to the opponent. If neither player can move, the game ends immediately.
The match concludes when the entire grid is filled with discs. The final step is to count the number of discs of each color. The player with the higher count wins the match. Focus on capturing the corners, as these pieces are permanent and cannot be flipped back, providing a strong anchor for your strategy.
