Neon War is a focused arcade shooter that centers on a clear, singular objective: protecting your position from falling orbs. When you begin your first run, you are placed in control of a cannon at the bottom of the screen. Large, numbered orbs descend from above, and you must move your cannon horizontally to intercept them with a continuous stream of fire. The numbers on each orb are the primary mechanic, indicating exactly how many hits are required before the orb explodes. This creates a high-pressure environment where you must decide which threats to neutralize first based on their proximity and their durability.

The game emphasizes reactive movement and target prioritization. As orbs are hit, they often split into smaller, faster-moving pieces, each with its own reduced count. This means the screen can quickly fill with multiple targets, requiring you to drag your cannon back and forth with precision. The neon aesthetic provides high visibility, ensuring that the numbers on each orb are easy to read even during the most intense moments of the war.
