The gameplay is centered on survival and area management, requiring you to protect a specific zone from encroaching invaders. You aren't just a stationary turret; you have a large area to explore, including the forest surrounding the van, which adds a layer of tactical movement to the combat. You must constantly patrol the perimeter to ensure no drones slip through your defenses.

Powering your defense is the Omnitrix, which allows Ben to transform into three distinct alien forms: Stinkfly, Diamondhead, and Heatblast. Each alien is not just a visual change but a strategic choice, as they each possess unique ranged attacks and special abilities. Stinkfly offers different mobility and projectile options, Diamondhead provides sturdy defense and sharp attacks, and Heatblast brings the heat with fire-based strikes. Choosing the right alien for the current wave of enemies is crucial for survival, as their attack patterns and special moves can turn the tide of a battle when you are outnumbered.

Combat is divided into two main types of attacks. Every alien has a standard ranged attack for consistent damage, but they also have access to a powerful special move. This special move deals significantly more damage and covers a larger area, making it ideal for clearing out dense clusters of drones. However, these moves are governed by a charge meter, forcing you to time their use for maximum impact. You cannot simply spam your strongest attacks; you must manage your resources while dodging incoming fire to keep Ben's health bar from depleting.

As you survive successive waves, you have the opportunity to unlock upgrades that enhance your combat effectiveness. Since there are no health power-ups available during the heat of battle, these upgrades and your defensive maneuvers are your only way to stay in the fight.
