How to Play
To start a match in Classic Backgammon, you first choose whether to play against the computer or a friend locally. The game begins with each player rolling a single die to see who moves first. On your turn, you roll two dice. The numbers shown on the dice represent how many points, or pips, you can move your checkers. You can move one checker the distance of both dice combined, or move two separate checkers.
Your checkers move in a horseshoe-shaped path toward your home board. If you land on a point occupied by only one of your opponent's checkers, that checker is sent to the 'bar' and must re-enter the game from the beginning. You cannot land on a point that is occupied by two or more of your opponent's checkers. This allows you to create defensive walls to block their progress.
Once all fifteen of your checkers have reached your home board, you can begin bearing them off. This is done by rolling the dice and removing checkers from the corresponding points. The first player to clear all their checkers from the board is declared the winner. Use the mouse to select your pieces and click on the target points to complete your moves.
